Former-US-Marine-turned-model, Alex Minsky, will be walking the menswear shows at Fashion Week 2013.
The event, organised by FIDé Fashion Weeks, will see the 24 year old, who lost his right leg in Afghanistan, walking alongside other male models on 12th October for the mens Prêt-à-Porter shows.
Best known for his provocative photos and underwear shoots, the strapping model is also known for his ripped physique which is covered in a myriad of tattoos. Alex, who was discovered in a Los Angeles gym when he was working out, now wears a prosthetic leg, after his truck ran over an explosive, which put him in a 47-day coma. Following his accident, he suffered from depression and turned to alcohol to help him cope, until he decided to face his problems and started working out. Since then, he has been showing off the results of his daily four-hour workouts and posts updates on his Facebook page to serve as an inspiration to other people with disabilities. He is now a successful underwear model who rivals the likes of David Beckham.
Alex’s courage is truly inspiring, and FIDé Fashion Weeks is honoured to welcome him to the event. His presence is a testament that fashion can indeed transcend boundaries. Fashion is often an inspiration to many, but for Alex, fashion has helped to turn his life around. As Alex himself put it, “Always remember that your present situation is not your final destination. The best is yet to come.”
