Paris-Based Couturier Collaborates With Singapore Online Retailer

Published on 9 September 2013

One’s a French Couture designer, recognised for his talent, and designs for the exclusive few. The other, a duo behind an online fast fashion store. An unlikely pairing?

This year, FIDé Fashion Weeks, in yet another first, is proud to present an exclusive collaboration between Julien Fournié and Love, Bonito. One of Singapore’s biggest and most successful online retailers, Love, Bonito is known for its affordable yet high-quality apparel. A recognized invited member of the La Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, Julien Fournié has worked with brands such as Celine and Jean Paul Gaultier, and is one of the most exciting designers to watch.

The duo behind Love, Bonito, Rachel and Viola, made a trip to Fournié ’s atelier in Paris, where they oversaw the collection as it unfurled under the designer’s hands. The capsule collection will make its debut at Fashion Week 2013 presented by The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands and organised by Fide Fashion Weeks and will be sold exclusively at the Love, Bonito online store. The girls are “very excited” for the collection to be ready and the designer channeled their exuberance into his designs. Recognising fashion as a complete ecosystem, FIDé  Fashion Weeks also supports various partners of fashion and establishes ties between them. Impressed by the duo’s (both being under 30) keen business sense, Fashion Week 2013 hopes that they will continue to be an inspiration to young Singaporeans.

While it is not uncommon for high fashion brands to collaborate with fast fashion, this marks the first foray of a French Couture collaboration. Through this initiative, it is hoped that the philosophy of couture will become more accessible, encouraging more people to appreciate couture as an art form. We have no doubt that fans of the brand will be clamouring for these pieces, and we are looking forward to their show, and their continuing support of young talent.
